Powder metallurgy is a process technology for preparing metal or using metal powder as raw material, through forming and sintering, to produce metal materials, composites and various types of products. Powder metallurgy technology is a high-strength, high-density, complex shape, and non-cutting manufacturing process. It is also a processing method for producing new materials.
The requirements of powder metallurgy technology are:
1. Powder metallurgy technology can greatly reduce the segregation of alloy components and eliminate the coarse and uneven casting structure.
2. Powder metallurgy technology can prepare a series of high-performance non-equilibrium materials such as amorphous, microcrystalline, quasicrystalline, nanocrystalline and supersaturated solid solution. These materials have excellent electrical, magnetic, optical and mechanical properties.
3. Powder metallurgy technology can realize near-net formation and automated mass production, thereby effectively reducing the consumption of production resources and energy.
4. Powder metallurgy technology can produce materials and products with special structure and performance that cannot be produced by ordinary smelting.
5. Powder metallurgy technology can make full use of ore, tailings, steelmaking sludge, steel rolling, and recycling of scrap metal as raw materials. It is a new technology that can effectively regenerate and comprehensively utilize materials.
